Gorham's Rangers

Excellent article here on the origins and service of Gorham's Rangers.

I don't want you all thinking that I am totally against Rangers and just going to write about Canadians. That would be a bit boring, so I am going to try and get a theme going of 'Rangers', and to kick it off one of the most famous. Originally Gorham’s Indian Rangers of the Deep Woods this unit was in service for quite a few years, with action at the siege of Louisbourg, Plains of Abraham and even took part in an expedition to Havana. Led initially by John Gorham until his death from smallpox in London in 1751 when he was succeeded by his brother Joseph.
