This fatigue cap is the sort of thing you won't find in any regulations or ordnances so we have to look at period illustrations in order to reconstruct it accurately. This image of the Regiment du Roi that has some soldiers foraging firewood in the background shows one clearly. B/W picture is the Regiment de Conti 1757 showing the bonnet with the flap turned down.
