Joshua Reynolds' Robert Orme 1756

Painted in 1756 in the uniform of the Coldstream Guards Captain Robert Orme was wounded at Monongahela where he was a-d-c to Braddock - the events in the background of this masterwork are thought to represent this battle. It's interesting to note the angle of the cocked hat as it perches across the head.

  1. Dear Sir,
I have long admired this portrait of Orme. It seems to be a perfect representation of the period doesn't it? Thanks for posting.
    cordially,
    David Corbett
