Rebellion in the Mohawk Valley

This looks good. Anyone read it?

In the summer of 1777, while the British and the Americans were engaged in the bitter American Revolution, a massive campaign was launched from Canada into New York State.

Brigadier Barry St. Leger led a crucial expedition from Lake Ontario into the Mohawk Valley. The goal was to travel by waterways to join Lieutenant General John Burgoyne in the siege of Albany. But Leger encountered obstacles along the way. While laying siege to Fort Stanwix, Leger received word that Benedict Arnold was leading a massive relief column that was headed their way. Leger and his men retreated, and despite a later attempt to carry on, were never able to help Burgoyne. The Americans then destroyed the British-held Fort Ticonderoga, marking the end of the campaign.

The results of the failed St. Leger expedition were historic. Not only was the loss of Fort Ticonderoga was a major blow to the British war effort, but the campaign also brought about the disillusionment of the Iroquois Confederacy, and saw the founding of the infamous Butler's Rangers and the first major campaign of Sir John Johnson's King's Royal Regiment.

Warhorse Miniatures Monongahela redcoats update

"First test print with the new British models. I am going to rescale the muskets a little, they look too small. The first batch will be around 54mm to match the Barzso miniatures. Later on, I will start rescaling them to match W. Britain and J.J. Designs toy soldiers.  The new poses will start this week. "

Britains American War of Independence

I had these as a kid. Think they came out late 60s. I still have one crew and the barrel of the gun.

Arrival of the Buffs

SIMMERING RESENTMENTS THREATEN THE ALLIANCE

Limited edition collector’s print. 250 print edition

October 27, 1759. Captain John Stuart and approximately seventy men of the South Carolina Provincial Regiment (known as the Buffs, because of their uniforms’ facings of buff-colored cloth) arrive at Fort Loudoun to shore up the beleaguered garrison and deliver much-needed supplies of meat, flour, salt, ammunition, and clothing. Stuart’s arrival seemed to herald a new hope for peace, but the situation proved to have deteriorated to a point of no return.

New Worlds, Old Wars

The Anglo-American Indian Wars 1607-1678

David Childs

Fascinating history of the early Indian wars.

This a great book. It's not very often that you get a book on the Indian Wars of the 17th century. It is not for the faint-hearted as a lot of the events seem cruel and inhuman. The religious beliefs of the Pilgrim settlers were used as justification for quite monstrous behaviour wrapped up in the Old Testament. But it is a story that needs to be known - it is history and we can learn from this book. If you have an interest in the history of New England and its native populations then I recommend this book. It covers among other conflicts the Pequot War, King Philip's War and the first Abenaki war. It is a worthwhile addition to your collection if you have an interest in the wars that made the U.S.
