 HaT have released three new sets depicting Hessian troops during the American War of Independence. They show musketeers in battle poses and charging, plus grenadiers in parade and combat. These are sets 8348, 8349 and 8353, and are already at some retailers.

Wargaming battles of the American war of independence

While reading 'With Zeal and with Bayonets only' I kept thinking of this set of rules published in Wargames Illustrated magazine in the early 80s - issue 1 in 1987 to be precise (see pic off ebay). I never used them but I enjoyed reading them and maybe I will use them as they are available for free (Pdf).

 IN MEMORY OF RICHARD ANSELL

I received the metal masters of the last set of sculpts Richard did for me.

One set is General Montcalm both mounted and dismounted - I have decided that all the sales from this set will be given to his widow Coral. It may not be a lot but I feel it is the least I can do and as this was the last personality he sculpted then it would be good if the figures were a recognition of his work.

Firelock Games

 

If you wanted to recreate the garrison of Port Royal you would need some privateers. Luckily Firelock Games have produced some nice sailor types from the Queen Anne's war. Kickstarter
