According to what I've read there was some 1,000 troops labelled Compagnies Détachées at Louisbourg at the siege. Anyone have any idea what they were and where they came from?

This came out in 1984. Was an excellent addition to a small set of books.
I wonder if they were made up of several detachments of La Marine, coming from different companies?
