I really like this image - I think we have had it on this blog already but why not publish it again. There is a really good book the Unredeemed Captive on the Deerfield raid - worth a read.
We've seen how merchants and British Grenadiers got dressed in the 1770s, but what about some of the most colorful visitors to Michili...
An even better book on the Deerfield Raid is Evan Haefeli and Kevin Sweeney's Captors and Captives: The 1704 French and Indian Raid on Deerfield. (UMass Press, 2003) which examines the raid from the perspectives of the different participants.
ReplyDeleteSweeney and Haefeli followed up this book with a collection of primary accounts (including the oral histories from native peoples): Captive Histories: English, French, and Native Narratives of the 1704 Deerfield Raid (UMass Press, 2006).
