Living here in St. Augustine, in the shadow of El Castillo de San Marcos I have to say that this was a very interesting seige and the history reads like an adventure story. If you ever get a chance to come down here and see the Castillo it is quite a sight. She is the only military castle built in the continental US (started in 1672 finished 1696)and has been besieged twice (1702 & 1740)and never fell to force of arms one of the few castles in the world to boast this feat. She also served as a military post up to and including WWII. Pardon me if I wax proud of our castle.
