Mark your calendar for the 'War of 1812 in the Tensaw Country' coming up
on March 15 & 16, 2014, 9-3, at Historic Fort Mims. This event
will feature Fort Montgomery, Andrew Jackson and the troops in this area
(maybe Davy Crockett will be here!), and the activity of the Redstick
Creeks after Fort Mims and up to Horseshoe Bend.
There will be a lot going on:
Living history encampments
Skirmish between local militia and the Redstick Creeks
Archaeological 'dig' at the East Gate
Presentation of Historic and Medicinal Plants of the area
Art exhibit featuring local artist whose work includes 'historic' themes of the 1800-1865 time period.
