These great images are from here - an article on the equipment and clothing of the French marines from the late 17th to mid 18thc. It's in Czech and I am not sure who the artist/author (?Vitous) is but it's worth translating through your favourite program.

We did this in the UK for a year or so some time ago - here's a photo I took in the woods near my house of colonial rangers on patrol. We did one or two public events but it wasn't hugely popular - bit too specialist for the UK I think. Lead person is wearing a Monmouth cap
